Facts
· Larry Day, the actor who plays Brodie, hosts a successful radio show in Montreal where he has been a DJ since he was a teenager.
· Sasha Roiz, the actor who plays Sven, just appeared in the blockbuster film THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW as the American astronaut Parker.
· All the actors wore black lines on their noses, cheeks, and lips to outline the lines on their face to make animation easier.
· The cameramen and crew were often in the shots which proved unproblematic as the producers could "animate them out."
· All of the scenes in the Delta State were shot on a set painted blue from floor to ceiling.
· Between shoots, Jean Pellerin, one of Delta State's cameramen, would fly down to San Francisco to shoot footage for a Metallica DVD.
· The series was shot over 16 weeks in a 50,000 square foot studio in Montreal
· Originally launched in September 2004, Delta State is one of the first television
series to use digital rotoscope, a method which fuses live action footage with
animation to create a highly stylized show. This revolutionary series tells the
story of four anti-superheroes in their twenties, who try to save the world from
the Rifters, in between paying the rent, dating, and trying to keep their day jobs.
Trip-hop DJ Kid Loco provides the series soundtrack.
